The Best of the Year
The Hot New Restuarants by Barbara Fairchild
There is also something very special about Striped Bass in Philadelphia, unless you happen to be a fish.
The hook here is an all-seafood menu listing fish and shellfish prepared in enough varied and inventive ways
to lure ven the most ardent meat eater. Owners Neil Stein and Joe Wolf, along with interior designer
Marguerite Rodgers, have transformed what were once the offices of a brokerage firm into a dramatic space
punctuated by the city's finest exhibition kitchen - and a 16-foot metal sculpture of (what else?) a leaping
striped bass.
Executive chef Alison Barshak keeps things lively in the kitchen with dishes like ginger-fried
squid with coriander and tomato aioli, pesto marinated prawns, and red curry swordfish.
